An Open Letter on Biospheric Republicans

I am writing from a shade-shrouded picnic table at the 5th annual "Organic Islands Festival & Sustainability Expo" -- surrounding by the Right Wing of tomorrow, and the day after...

Bernard-Henri Levy's LEFT IN DARK TIMES seeks out the seeds of tomorrow's progressive Leftist politics but with little success. Where are they? I say they have been sublimated to that form of Right which is appropriate to the total planetary human sphere.

These people all around do not think they are Republicans. They imagine themselves as social progressives, oppposed to fundamentalism, moral hypocrisy, ethnic ideology and the compulse advocacy of oligarchic interests. Yet they are clearly pr
oponents of conservation, limited expenditure, farmer's protection, regional community spirit, natural law, localism -- and these are explicitly Conservative values. This is not a left/right issue but a competition between old Right and a new Right... between Rednecks & Green-necks.

The old Conservatives -- suffering toxicity & regressivism -- are hollow, collapsing like the American Republicans, but the new Social Progressives lack spirit and cedes all its force to a pragmatic centralism. One factors explains all sides of this situation: the emergence of planetary right-wing spirit. This erodes old school Conservatism and captures the instincts of a Liberalism that has not yet emerged.

Today's progressives have strayed into a hinterland between the sci-fi issues of tomorrow (A.I. sentience, cyborg rights, alternate bodies, extra-planetary colonialism) and the smouldering nostalgia for the militant egalitarianism of centuries past. This Left either dwells in socialist revivalism, scattered minority-rights lobbying, or hysterical critiques of fascism's tiny echoes in popular culture OR they are blurred out by the growing mass of sexually & emotionally relaxed, eco-planetary conservatives -- green-necks.

Love,
the next president of Honduras,
pascal.
